KAI Seki Magoroku Red Wood Usuba 16.5 cm - Carbon 1K6 steel blade - Pakkawood handle
The Seki Magoroku Redwood Nakiri features a 16.5 cm long blade made of rust-resistant carbon 1K6 stainless steel with a hardness of approximately 58 HRC. The polished blade has a single-sided hollow grind that minimizes friction between the cutting material and the blade. Although it may not appear so at first glance, the Nakiri is a vegetable knife. The benefits of the straight blade become apparent after a short period of adjustment, as cuts are made easily and effortlessly. Despite its hatchet-like shape, the fine blade of the Nakiri is not suitable for chopping bones.
The handle, traditionally designed in a chestnut shape, is made of Pakkawood. The handle is particularly durable and resistant to liquids due to high-quality resins added to the wood. A black glossy plastic ferrule connects the narrow, solid handle to the inserted blade. The lightweight handle creates a beautiful balance with the blade, allowing for effortless cutting.
The Seki Magoroku Redwood series presents itself in a minimalist basic form. In combination with Japanese aesthetics, the knives are visually more than appealing. In practice, the knives even exceed the first impression. Another example of famous Japanese knife craftsmanship.
