The Nesmuk cutting board is the smallest in the range, measuring 27 x 18 cm and 2 cm in height. Despite being marketed as an "eating board," it is also suitable for daily small cutting tasks and can be used on both sides. This version of the board is made from smoked wood, resulting in a darker color.
The eating boards are exclusively made from oak end-grain wood in a small factory in southern Germany.
- - Oak wood is used due to its high tannin content, making it naturally resistant to bacteria.
- - End-grain wood is used to ensure that only the fiber bundles are cut from the top, protecting finely sharpened blades. With proper care, the wood can even regenerate.
- - The core wood is the oldest and most valuable part of the tree trunk, as the cell growth is complete and almost no moisture can penetrate.
The individual strips are hand-selected (an absolute novelty) and joined together in a characteristic yet symmetrical, harmonious pattern through wood welding. The fine surface sanding and final treatment with natural linseed oil and beeswax make the surface resistant and give the cutting board a silky shine.
