The Nesmuk cutting board is the smallest in the range, measuring 27 x 18 cm and 2 cm in height. Despite being marketed as an "eating board," it is also suitable for daily small cutting tasks and can be used on both sides. The wood used in this version is natural.
For the eating boards, which are produced in a small workshop in southern Germany, only oak end-grain core wood is used.
- - Oak wood, because its high tannin content makes it naturally resistant to bacteria.
- - End-grain wood, because cutting into the fiber bundles from the top preserves finely sharpened blades and the wood can even regenerate with good care.
- - Core wood, the oldest and most valuable part of the trunk cross-section, where cell growth is complete and moisture penetration is minimal.
The individual strips are hand-selected (an absolute novelty) and joined together in a characteristic yet symmetrical, harmonious pattern through wood welding. The fine surface sanding and final treatment with natural linseed oil and beeswax make the surface resistant and give the cutting board a silky shine.
