KAI Knife Sets

Knife sets are a tricky topic. When asked how many knives you absolutely need, you will likely get many different answers. Which knives you actually need in your collection depends on what you want to cut. That's why there is no general answer. But there is a basic set of knives that you really should have. And you can find these knives in the KAI knife sets.

The perfect starter knife set

Think about which knives you use frequently. In our opinion, you first need a large, a medium, and a small knife. The chef's knife, or Santoku knife with a blade length of around 20 cm, can be used for almost all cutting tasks. An all-purpose knife with a blade length of around 15 cm for more delicate work where you need more control over the blade. And the small vegetable, all-purpose, paring, or office knife is perfect for peeling and cleaning vegetables and all the other cutting tasks that don't work well with long blades.

The different KAI knife sets

KAI offers knife sets in various series:

The Wasabi Black knife set always includes one utility knife with a 10 & 15 cm blade length. Additionally, as a third knife, you can choose between a chef's knife with a 20 cm blade length or a santoku knife with a 16.5 cm blade length.

The KAI Shun knife set comes in five versions. The small set includes one paring knife with a 9 cm blade and one utility knife with a 15 cm blade length.

The large sets offer you the utility knife with a 15 cm blade length. Additionally, there is either the chef's knife with a 20 cm or the santoku knife with an 18 cm blade length. These sets are referred to as the KAI chef's knife sets.

The three-piece knife sets are based on the small knife set with one paring knife with a 9 cm blade and one utility knife with a 15 cm blade length. When expanding, you again have the choice between the chef's knife with a 20 cm or the santoku knife with an 18 cm blade length. Additionally, both series also offer a KAI steak knife set and carving sets.

There is nothing wrong with 8-piece knife sets if you really need the knives. Sometimes, however, less is more. With the KAI knife sets, you are already well equipped.
