KAI Seki Magoroku Shoso

Seki Magoroku Shoso Knives

Blade made of steel (logical), handle made of steel (ok), Japanese blade shapes (very beautiful), innovative manufacturing methods (aha), resulting in great cutting performance (wow) and a price in the mid-range segment (really?)...
Yes, really! This is the Seki Magoroku Shoso collection from KAI. No catch, no empty promises, no big talk. Just real.

Seki Magoroku Shoso knives are forged from rust-free stainless steel and sharpened and honed with great technical effort. ("Honing" is the technical term for the process of draw grinding, which precisely aligns the blade's cutting edge.) The result is extremely sharp and at the same time robust professional knives. They are perfect for daily use in cooking and preparation. Completely made of stainless steel and reduced in design to the essentials, each Shoso is also a real highlight in your kitchen.

The Blade

The Shoso blade is forged from 1K6 stainless steel with a hardness of 58 (±1) HRC and sharpened at a slow grinding speed. This guarantees high and uniform hardness as well as long-lasting sharpness. A new manufacturing process additionally reduces the resistance of the blade edge, meaning that friction between the cutting material and the blade is minimized. The convex edge gives the knives a stable cutting edge - ideal for a clean and precise cut. The matte finish of the blade emphasizes the cool look of the Seki Magoroku Shoso knives.

The Handle

The ergonomic handle made of rust-free 18-8 stainless steel is particularly robust and thanks to its symmetrical ellipse shape, ensures professional handling. The diamond pattern and matte surface integrated into the handle provide a secure and comfortable grip when cutting - even with wet hands. The seamless transition from handle to blade emphasizes the original look of these knives. No edges also means that the Shoso is easy to clean.

The Range

The Seki Magoroku Shoso series includes ten blade shapes, offering the right knife for every purpose. In addition to three Santokus, there is also a small office and all-purpose knife, a bread knife, and even a Chinese chef's knife. The three chef's knives with different blade lengths have a thin blade with a rounded spine at the tip. This makes the chef's knives also excellent as filleting and carving knives.

Conclusion: If you value high-quality and aesthetic tools in your kitchen, then you will do very well with the choice of Seki Magoroku Shoso. In our opinion, the price-performance ratio of these Japanese knives is hard to beat. For Butch, a true hidden champion.
